Line graph - line width
always seem several pixels wide.
Also, when selecting "Numeric or time-scale values" on the X-axis of a line
chart the labels appear vertically in the Chart Properties dialog box but
appear horizontally when the report is generated. I have RS sp1 installed.
How do I fix this problem?Answer to your first problem:
Layout view: right-click the chart, select properties, go to the data tab,
press the edit button for the desired value, go to the appearance tab and
there you can set the width of a line.
They've put it away quite well :)

sharp lines. Less than 0.75 and the line doesn't appear.

integer values for line width. This will change in RS 2005. For pixel-based
output format (like TIFF) you won't notice to much difference, but in vector
graphics formats (like EMF) you will see differences especially when zooming
or at high resolutions (e.g. printing).

Line Chart
Thanks
DarrenGo to Chart Propertties Dialog -> Data tab -> Values -> Edit ->
Appearance -> Series Style -> Border and Fill tab and change the Width value
accordingly (this can also be an expression.)

Does anyone know if it is possible to set the width of these?

line charts:
In report designer, right click on the chart -> Chart Properties Dialog ->
Data tab -> Values -> Edit -> Edit Chart Value dialog -> Appearance tab ->
click Series Styles -> Style properties dialog -> select Width from dropdown
or use an expression like ="1pt"

Line Break formatting
I have a report with a narrow column. The column contains a comma delimited number list.
If the length of the string exceeds the width of the column then the line breaks. No problem with this, except that there are breaks between the numbers.
Example:
123,124,125,126
can be formatted as
123,12
4, 125,1
26
I'd like to force a break at a position within the string if its on the comma. Any thoughts on doing this in the Expressions window?
TIA
anyone please?|||you'll need to have space after the commas.|||By assuming that all your number list of three digits than we can adjust the column width such that it fixes the numbers. if numbers are not fixed length digits than i wont think we can do .
|||The numbers can be any length (1 to n digits). They are also not always guaranteed to be numeric; they can be alphanumeric as well (but still sequential).|||Use vbcrlf. I'm putting a line break in my address with the below code. I tried \r\n, <br>, all kinds of stuff. vbcrlf is what I needed.
=Fields!SHIPTO.Value & vbcrlf & Fields!SHP_TO_CTY.Value & ", " & Fields!SHP_TO_ST.Value & " " & Fields!SHP_TO_ZIP.Value
|||vbcrlf will work but seeing as we're in the .NET world now I would recommend using Environment.NewLine

Limit on row size for reading fixed-width .txt?
I have a customer who wants to send a fixed width file with 1400 characters per row.
Before I tell the 'OK', I was wondering if there is any limit to the length of rows when using a DTS .txt source.
Anyone know?
Thanks! You have a sql row limit of 8060
Why not bcp the data in?
Does the process have to be repeated?|||My "personal best" was a smidgeon over 20 Kb per row of text. 2000 ten digit integers with a space between them per row.
-PatP|||OK, so 1400 characters is pretty puny.
This will be a weekly feed that begins with an FTP'd file and ends only after updating all of that company's organization structure, employees, employee contacts, etc. and then emailing a summary of the results and any errors to our DBA. Currently we run a bunch of these as DTS as it is easy to have some tasks be custom to the specific customer and others be based on stock scripts.
We're not looking forward to moving to Yukon. I hear that you can't upgrade DTS.
Thanks for the info guys!|||That's not true about upgrading DTS. The problem is HOW you have to upgrade. You basically take the whole VBScript it produces and plop it in there to run. It will run, but you lose all the graphical interface. I'm hoping they've changed that. I haven't really spent time looking at IS since the early notes on it. Too busy looking at all the other kewl features.|||Sounds like this will not go off without some triage and repair, particularly in our more sophisticated, looping DTS where we enable and disable tasks based on the data.|||If you mean data driven tasks, oh boy will you be excited.
There are some features that just plain won't be portable (the VBA/Active X and UDL in particular), others will require significant "triage", but most features ought to be relatively portable. I won't take any bets until I see RC, because there are so many things that aren't "final" yet.
-PatP|||I agree that we won't know until we've started to move our own stuff over.
But I'm betting it will be seriously annoying!
